I recently took a last-minute trip to Honolulu, Hawaii and stayed at the Waikiki Hawaiian Village Resort. My plan was to do absolutely nothing but lay on the beach with my books and doze in and out of sleep. However, things didn't go as planned. I ended up being active and exploring the mountains, gazing at the clear sky filled with stars that seemed close enough to touch. It was a breathtaking experience, and I had never seen a night sky so clear before.
While watching the ocean waves, my love and I decided to jump into the ocean. I didn't have a bathing suit or a change of clothes, but the moment felt right. So there I was, in my blouse and panties, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean giggling like a child on a hot summer day. A big wave knocked me off my feet, and my cute weave ponytail was covered in sand and salt water, it was ruined. It was a embarrassing, hilarious and liberating moment, because we all know how restricting getting in water can be because of the maintenance of our hair. The wave knocking me out was a great reminder of why some people don't go with the flow. It can be scary and ugly, but all of those factors are what make life fun. There is thrill, bliss, and divinity in being present and going with the flow.
It's important to stay open to what could happen. Going with the flow allows the God to move in mysterious ways that are for your good. For those of us who are naturally Type A personalities, this can be much more challenging. Learning to lean into our feminine side and let go of perfection can be a scary thing. I used to worry, "If I fall, who will catch me?" But I had to face the reality that no one would catch me. I would be there to pick myself up, dust off the dirt, and laugh my ass off for falling. Then, I’d reflect on the lessons learned throughout the process. That is life, that is going with the flow.
Going with the flow allowed me to experience an amazing trip into the mountains of Hawaii, where I felt the presence of the divine so strongly. I was reminded of what faith can do: "Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains." Faith is believing in what you can't see, believing that something is complete and done in your favor, before there is a glimmer of hope. Faith is not an easy task; it requires practice, prayer, and constant work towards that which you are believing. That mountain reminded me of how powerful a mustard seed of faith must be in order to move a mountain by Gods word. Our faith should allow us to go with the flow.
I always wanted to spend Valentine's Day in Hawaii, but I didn't know how or when it would happen. However, I had faith that being on a beautiful island surrounded by love and romance was something that could happen for me. Our belief in something helps us to gauge our actions, and our actions create our future.
So, as this month comes to an end, remember these words and these three tips: Faith, Flow, and Freedom.
1. Read inspiring content and books that stimulate your curiosity about life.
2. Make plans for the things you desire, even if you don’t know how they will come to pass.
3. Take a risk doing something unplanned and reflect on what it brings up for you.
Thank you for reading my blog and sharing it with other women who would enjoy it.
