Being Thankful And That's Enough

Updated: 6 days ago

This morning, I woke up feeling grateful.

My first book was all about offering advice to my younger self. That teenage girl who was just trying to make sense of the world. Now that I am in my mid thirties, I could easily write a whole new list of lessons. But instead of giving advice about the late nights, wrong turns, bad relationships, shallow friendships, and questionable decisions, I am choosing to pause.

We live in a culture full of tips, strategies, and constant pressure to level up. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be this:

Do it all.

Make the mistakes and learn from them. Have the relationships and learn from them. Blow the money, throw the punch, be broke and learn from it. Take the trip, get stranded, get kicked out of the club and live it.

Because that is life.

That is living.

And when you look back, you will have a story worth telling. One filled with the highs and lows, the tears and laughter, the anger and the romance, the lessons and the light.

With time, you get better. You become more refined and more centered on what truly matters to recognize good character and strengthen your own. You learn to leave spaces that do not honor you, release friendships rooted in envy, and show up for yourself first. You learn to enjoy stillness just as much as the hustle, the creating, the building, and the becoming.

You learn.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving let's continute to practice gratitude, whether with family, friends, or in our own quiet company, I invite all of us to be thankful for who we are right now. Look back at the version of you from a decade ago and thank her for evolving. Be gentle with who you are today. Even if the healing feels messy. Even if you are still unlearning.

We all are.

Life is a continuous journey of healing, growing, living, and learning until our time here is done.

Wishing you a grounded, grateful, and well Thanksgiving.

With love,

Sakina
